Essential Oils

Holistic Aromatherapy Practitioner Certification

The term aromatherapy comes from two words, “aroma” meaning scent  and “therapy” meaning a treatment for a physical or mental condition. Together aromatherapy means treating a physical or mental condition using scent. The scents that are referred to in this modality are actually essential oils. They come from plants that are valued for their therapeutic properties. These scents  were used over 5,000 years ago.

Many illnesses were found to originate in the mind and that a holistic approach may be necessary for healing both body and mind. When essential oils are properly administered, they produce no harmful side effects and help to mobilize the body’s own self-healing powers. They can deeply influence our psychic equilibrium or psychological well-being and regulate physical imbalances. They can affect body and soul. In addition, essential oils invite one to appreciate the beauty and wonders of creation, providing us inner contentment. It can help us in our search for meaning in our lives.

Essential oils have the ability to directly affect the brain and, from there, many psychological and physiological processes, such as in aroma lamps,  sprays, and inhalation devices. Essential oils absorbed by the skin can reach the organs to be treated through the connective tissues and the circulatory system. Excretion of the oils from the body takes place in the lungs and kidneys, also through the urine, feces, and perspiration.  It can take anywhere from 20 minutes to several hours for oils to be absorbed into the body (average is 90 minutes). Essential oils greatly support the skin and are applied in diluted forms for baths, massage, and compress.

Aromatherapy and homeopathy do not mix. The essential oils cancel out the effects of homeopathic remedies. Avoid the external use of camphor, mint, and chamomile during homeopathic treatment. Aromatherapy is compatible with conventional medicine and most other forms of holistic treatment. If you are currently taking medications, consult your doctor before treating yourself with essential oils.

So what makes these oils so great? It’s the essence of the plant. Each plant has its own characteristics, it’s own personality, it’s own life force. This essence is the carrier of its energy. We are able today to measure these energies with a variety of instruments and can verify the high-frequency radial energy field. Kirlian photography is one way in which we can see the energy field that surrounds living organisms.

Self-treatment is suitable for minor or short-term problems only. Always seek professional treatment for chronic or serious health problems or if a problem becomes severe or persistent.

Warning!! Do not take essential oils before consulting your doctor if:

  1. You are pregnant.

  2. You have an allergy.

  3. You have a chronic medical condition such as high blood pressure/epilepsy.

  4. You are receiving medical or psychiatric treatment.

  5. You are taking homeopathic remedies.

  6. You are treating babies or very young children.

Always keep essential oils in dark glass and do not expose to light. If properly stored, the oils will remain fully potent for 1 year and diminish after that.
